According to statements uttered by the local governor of the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, the Russian government is poised to remove 9,000 children from the area and relocate them in safer areas.
The Russian government claims that Ukraine is intensifying its attacks on Russian refineries and against people who dwell in the border regions, causing civilian casualties. The Ukrainian government has been pressuring Putin to retreat.
The ongoing Ukrainian forays in Russian border regions are being highlighted by Russian authorities, in a bid to claim that Russia is actually a victim of Ukrainian and Western aggression.
